Houston, Texas — Custom Kitchen Design & Build
Kitchen Remodeling in Houston
HTX Construction designs and builds kitchen remodels across Greater Houston — reworked layouts, custom cabinetry, stone surfaces, coordinated appliances, and finish work held to one standard.
Kitchen Layout Planning
A successful remodel starts with how the kitchen is used — not how it looks in a photo. We study your cooking habits, storage needs, and traffic patterns, then rework the layout so prep, cooking, cleanup, and gathering zones each have the space they need.
Layout planning also covers the unglamorous infrastructure: electrical circuits for appliances, ventilation paths, plumbing relocations, and lighting placement — all resolved before cabinetry is ordered.
Islands and Circulation
An island changes the geometry of a kitchen. We proportion islands to the room — wide enough for seating or prep, small enough to keep clearances comfortable on every side — and plan circulation so two people can work without colliding.
Where an island would crowd the space, we say so and propose alternatives: a peninsula, a banquette, or simply a better-proportioned work wall.

Custom and Semi-Custom Cabinetry
Cabinetry defines a kitchen. We build and install custom cabinetry for homeowners who want joinery and finishes tailored to the room, and we work with quality semi-custom lines where budget and timeline make them the right choice. Either way, the layout, reveals, and hardware are planned as one detail.
White oak cabinetry remains one of the most requested kitchen looks in Houston — warm, tactile, and available in a range of tones and grain patterns. We can show you how it pairs with your countertops, flooring, and light before anything is ordered.
Stone Countertops and Taj Mahal Quartzite
Natural stone gives a kitchen its character. Taj Mahal quartzite — a warm cream stone with soft movement — is a favorite for Houston homes because it reads elegant without being cold, and it stands up better to daily use than many marbles.
We plan stone deliberately: slab selection with you present, veining direction agreed before fabrication, seam placement decided by where the eye actually falls, and edge profiles chosen to match the cabinetry’s style.
Appliance Planning and Coordination
Professional ranges such as Wolf, built-in ovens, integrated refrigeration, and quiet dishwashers each carry installation requirements — clearances, ventilation, electrical loads, and anti-tip bracing — that must be built into the plan. We coordinate appliance installation as part of construction, working with your selections and suppliers.
HTX Construction is an independent construction company, not an appliance dealer. We coordinate installation of premium appliances you select; we do not sell them.
- Induction cooktop planning, including dedicated circuits and clearance requirements
- Range and oven ventilation coordinated with cabinet and hood design
- Panel-ready appliance integration with cabinetry finishes
- Electrical and gas requirements planned before cabinet order placement
Brass and Mixed-Metal Finishes
Brass, aged bronze, polished nickel, and matte black can share a kitchen when their balance is planned. We help you set a finish hierarchy — a dominant metal, a supporting accent, and a rule for plumbing versus hardware versus lighting — so the room looks curated rather than collected.
Lighting, Flooring, and Surrounding Surfaces
A kitchen needs four kinds of light: task light at the counters, ambient light for the room, accent light for features, and daylight through openings. We plan all four, including under-cabinet lighting wired before drywall closes.
Flooring transitions into adjacent rooms, drywall conditions, and paint are part of the kitchen scope, not a separate project — so thresholds, corners, and ceiling lines all resolve cleanly.
Open-Concept Structural Considerations
Removing a wall between the kitchen and living space is often the single change that most improves a Houston home. It is also structural work: we evaluate load paths, plan headers or steel, and coordinate the beam with lighting and ceiling details so the opening looks designed rather than patched.
Windows and doors in or near the kitchen are reviewed at the same time — a relocated window or a wider door to the patio often belongs in the same scope as the cabinets.
The Construction Sequence
Kitchen remodels follow a deliberate order: protection and demolition, any structural changes, mechanical rough-in, inspections where required, drywall, flooring, cabinetry, stone templating and installation, appliance and fixture setting, then paint and final detail. We communicate where you are in that sequence throughout the project.
A kitchen is the most-used room in your home. Let’s plan it properly.
Frequently Asked Questions
How long does a kitchen remodel take?
Every kitchen is different, and we do not promise timelines before the scope is defined. Layout changes, structural work, and custom cabinetry all affect schedule. Once we understand your project, we map the sequence and keep you informed as it progresses.
Can you work with our designer or help us choose materials?
Yes. We regularly work alongside homeowners’ designers, and we also guide material and finish decisions directly — including cabinetry lines, stone selection, and finish coordination — during planning.
Do you handle the plumbing and electrical work?
We coordinate the full construction scope. Regulated trade work such as electrical and plumbing is completed or coordinated through appropriately qualified, licensed providers, with permits and inspections handled where required.
Can we keep the existing footprint and still improve the kitchen?
Absolutely. Many of the best kitchen remodels keep appliances and fixtures in place and invest instead in cabinetry, stone, lighting, and finish quality.
What does a kitchen remodel cost in Houston?
Cost depends entirely on scope — layout changes, cabinetry level, stone selection, and appliance package drive the budget. We do not publish price ranges; instead, we discuss your budget honestly during the consultation and shape the scope to it.
Which areas do you serve?
We build kitchens throughout Greater Houston — including Houston, Pearland, Friendswood, League City, Sugar Land, Missouri City, and surrounding communities.
